Among this week’s newly added projects are Christopher Granier-Deferre’s comedy Le Weekend, as well as Né Quelque Part starring Jamel Debbouze.
Two reckless romantics on a doomed weekend in Normandy find themselves sharing their love nest with a disturbed fugitive in Granier-Deferre’s directorial debut Le Weekend. The comedy is based on a screenplay by Geoffrey Gunn and will star Pierre Perrier, Jamie Parker and Kirsty Oswald.
Production duties are shared between France’s Poisson Rouge Pictures and UK-based Le Weekend Film, with Granier-Deferre co-producing alongside Catherine Vetere and Dominique Boutonnat. Shooting is currently underway in France.
Jamel Debbouze and Tewfik Jallab are set to star in the Mohamed Hamidi directed comedy Né Quelque Part, which centres on a French-Algerian who is trapped in Algeria after a distant cousin steals his paper when he visits his father’s home village.
Hamidi also wrote the screenplay. Nicolas Duval Adassovsky, Yann Zenou and Laurent Zeitoun are producing for French production company Quad Films, with Debbouze producing for his own company Kiss Films. France 3 Cinéma provided financial backing.
The 8-week shoot is scheduled to kick off in mid-February and will take place across Morocco, Algeria and France. Mars Films holds French distribution rights.
