With three days to go before the opening night screening on Oct 6 of Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In, organisers at the Rio De Janeiro International Film Festival have announced the full roster.

The world premiere of Walter Carvalho’s Raul - O Início, O Fim E O Meio, a documentary about Brazilian rock icon Raul Seixas, will close the event on Oct 18.

World Panorama entries include Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, Lee Tamahori’s The Devil’s Double, Zhang Yimou’s Under The Hawthorn Tree, Julia Leigh’s Sleeping Beauty and Errol Morris’ Tabloid. The Expectativa (Expectation) strand features such entries as Phil Cox’s The Bengali Detective, Paddy Considine’s Tyrannosaur and Anne Sewitsky’s Happy Happy.

Premiere Brazil competition fiction entries include world premieres of Odilon Rocha’s Prime Time Soap (A Novela Das Oita), Tadeu Jungle’s Tomorrow Never Again (Amanha Nunca Mais), Beto Brant and Renato Ciasca’s I’d Receive The Worst News From Your Beautiful Lips (Eu Receberia As Piores Noticias De Seus Lindos Labios) and Vinicius Coimbra’s Matraga (A Hora E A Vez De Augusto Matraga).

Among the competition docs roster are Eduardo Coutinho’s Songs (Cancoes), Pedro Asberg’s Sincere Lies (Mentiras Sinceras) and Isa Grinspum Ferraz’ Marighella.

The Premiere Latina section showcases work from Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist with The Two Escobars (Colombia-US), Santiago Mitre with El Estudiante (Argentina), Pablo Larrain with Post Mortem (Chile-Germany-Mexico) and Gerardo Naranjo with Miss Bala (Mexico).

Paolo Sorrentino’s This Must Be The Place and Pippo Delbono’s Amore Carne are among the Focus Italy strand and a Bela Tarr tribute includes The Turin Horse, Journey OnThe Plan, Satan’s Tango, Family Nest and Prologue. As previously reported, Dario Argento will also receive a tribute. The festival includes Midnight and Gay World sections and the Rio Market.
