This year'sKarlovy Vary Crystal Globe has been won by Danish film Terribly Happy (Frygtelig Lykkelig).

Henrik Ruben Genz's adaptation of an Erling Jepsen novel took the $30,000 top prize at the Czech spa town's Thermal Hotel grand hall.

The $20,000 Special Jury Prize was awarded to Indonesian director Nan T. Achnas' The Photograph.

Kazakhstan directorSergey Dvortsevoy's Tulpan took best film honours in the EastOf The West section.

The grand jury, led by president Ivan Passer, included Brenda Blethyn, Ari Folman, Ted Hope, Jan P. Muchow, Johanna ter Steege and Vilmos Zsigmond.

The 44th Karlovy Vary IFF will be held from July 3rd - 11th, 2009.
