Singapore’s Media Development Authority (MDA) has launched a fund for animated TV series, telemovies and theatrical features in partnership with FremantleMedia Enterprises.
Launched at the on-going MIPTV programming market in Cannes, the International Animation Fund (IAF) is inviting applications from all over the world which have a Singapore partner on board. The MDA will co-invest up to $3.5m (S$5m) for each qualifying project while Fremantle will handle international sales.
“We have enjoyed a longstanding strategic relationship with Fremantle, who share our vision for new catalytic initiatives in global animation and family entertainment. We look forward very much to co-creating new intellectual property in and by Singapore’s animation community in partnership with like-minded members of the animation cluster from around the world,” said MDA CEO Dr Christopher Chia.
Applications for the fund are open from now until June 30, 2010. Shortlisted applicants will be required to pitch face-to-face to an evaluation panel comprising senior MDA and Fremantle executives in Singapore.
The IAF follows the International Film Fund launched by the MDA last year for live-action feature film co-productions in and with Singapore.
