Thailand’s Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) has selected four projects to take part in a pitching initiative to be held during the Cannes market.
The OCAC, which is under Thailand’s Ministry of Culture, will arrange meetings between the producers and directors of the four selected projects and potential investors. The event will be held May 11-16 at the Thai Pavilion in the International Village.
The four selected projects are:
Enemies – a story of Thailand’s controversial 2003 war against drug dealers, to be directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham (Beautiful Boxer) and produced by Pantham Thongsang.
Karma Police – Buddhist-themed political drama about Thailand’s attempts to send a man into space. To be directed by Visra Vichit-Vadakani and produced by Pornmanus Silpasart.
A River’s Tale – about a young woman dealing with an unplanned pregnancy, to be directed by female filmmaker Rutaiwan Wongsirasawad. Producer Pawas Sawatchaiyamet recently produced Pen-ek Ratanaruang’s Headshot.
Three Marks of Existence – drama about a young man who sets off on a religious pilgrimage to India and the characters he meets along the way. To be directed by newcomer Krittanut Tarawisid who is also producing with Autchavipa Pattapheesin.
