Warner Bros Studios Leavesden (WBSL) has acquired leading UK sound mixing and post production facility De Lane Lea.
The financials of the deal have not been disclosed but the 65-year old post-production house, based in Soho, will be renamed Warner Bros De Lane Lea in the coming weeks.
Adding to WBSL’s existing production facilities and on-site production rentals, the acquisition will allow the studio to provide a full production service to in-house film and TV productions as well as external clients – mirroring what film-makers are offered at Warner Bros headquarters in Los Angeles.
The facility includes three re-recording stages; two ADR stages; 40 picture editing suites; a TV mixing stage; a transfer bay for the digital delivery, conversion and ingestion of picture and sound; and a screening room.
De Lane Lea has recently been the post-production home of Skyfall, Frankenweenie, Prometheus and Dark Shadows.
Warner Bros association with the facility stretches back 40 years with its post-production work on John Boorman’s Deliverance.
Upcoming Warner Bros film Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, is currently in post-production at De Lane Lea.
Josh Berger, president and managing director of Warner Bros UK, Ireland and Spain, said the company would “look to invest in the facility in the coming months and years”.
“Just five months no from the opening of Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, this latest acquisition is further evidence of our commitment to the UK film industry,” added Berger.
The 200-acre studios are based just outside Watford and are formerly the production home of all eight Harry Potter films. Currently shooting at the studios is All You Need is Kill, a sci-fi thriller starring Tom Cruise, directed by Doug Liman.
