Regional screen agency Northern Film & Media is launching a new $1.6m (£1m) content fund for film, TV, games, interactive media and music.
The North East Content Fund has earmarked $165,000 (£100,000) for film development, with a further $330,000 (£200,000) of the fund aimed at film production. It is the agency’s first fund and it aims to support projects across the region.
Tom Harvey, chief executive of Northern Film & Media, said: “We want to invest in talent and projects that are going to make a real impact on national and international screens, not only emulating the success of productions such as This is England, Control and Hustle as well as games such as Grand Theft Auto or Guitar Hero, but also building on the North East’s own voice and individuality.”
The fund is open to applications from July 27.
