A record 46 countries have submitted films to the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for consideration for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar to be presented during the Academy Award ceremony on March 25.
The Academy unveiled the full list which exceeds the previous record of 45 set in 1994 and repeated last year. Among some of the films not yet announced are Hey! Ram from India and 6ixty Nin9 from Thailand.
Of the 46 films, only nine have US distribution to date. Sony Pictures Classics has Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Me You Them and Vertical Ray Of The Sun; Independent Artists has 27 Missing Kisses; Lions Gate Films has Amores Perros; Lot 47 has Chunhyang; Offline/Artistic License has The Taste Of Others; Shooting Gallery has A Time For Drunken Horses and USA Films has In The Mood For Love.
