Writer-director, UK Stars Of Tomorrow 2010
If Luke Snellin’s films have so far all been about kids, it is with good reason. “I still feel close to my life as a teenager,” says the 24-year-old. “I like to look at the moments before the transition to maturity which get forgotten in the bustle of adulthood, things like first love.” His debut short, Patrick, about a boy who yearns to fly, showed a delicate touch. His second, Mixtape, is a charming nugget about a 13-year-old (played by Bill Milner) attempting to woo the girl next door, and was nominated for a Bafta short. Now, Snellin is prepping a short funded by the UK Film Council, prize money from the Virgin Media Shorts competition, and 2AM Films, the commercials company he joined last year. Disco will again star Milner as one of three 14-year-olds in a love triangle. Snellin, who studied screenwriting at Bournemouth University, is also developing a feature based on a coming-of-age novel.
