Tom Basden

Having notched up a significant following in the comedy world for his award-winning shows both with the sketch group Cowards and as a solo act, Tom Basden is branching out into screenwriting. Big Talk Productions and Film4 are producing the fish-out-of-water comedy Tile City about two Brits caught up in shady dealings in China. It reunites him with fellow Star of Tomorrow Tim Key with whom he wrote and starred in the wryly amusing 2008 Bafta-nominated short The One And Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island. Meanwhile, Little Bird is producing comedy drama Caveman about the friendship between two men in their late 20s. To be directed by Herb McGwyer’s James Griffiths, it is due to shoot at the end of the year. One of a gang of collaborators including Key, Jonathan Van Tulleken and Alex Winter, Basden is also writing for the children’s series Me And My Monsters and a TV series based on his play Party.
