Opening in its final territory over the weekend, Universal'sdrama 8 Mile went straight to number onein Japan with a gross of $2.2m from 233 sites. The film's international runningtotal is now just over $113m.
As expected, given the widespread youth appeal of its lead star Eminem, the film's Japanese opening drew a mostly youngaudience, with 80% of viewers aged under 25. Males comprised 60% of thetotal audience.
Spy spoof Johnny English opened top of the table in Indonesia, where it grossed$209,000 from 34 venues for the distributor's fourth biggest opening there.
It was also the third biggest opening of the year so far inIndonesia, behind X2: X-Men United and The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers.
In the UK, Johnny English's seventh week added another $554,000 from 369 sites; theRowan Atkinson comedy has now passed The Mummy to become the 10th biggest filmof all time in the UK.
Overall, Johnny English grossed $2.1m from 1,875 sites in 24 countries over theweekend to raise its cumulative score to $106.1m. Openings are still to come innine countries, including France on July 23 (through Studiocanal) and Japan onOct 4.
