Canada'sAlliance Atlantis' Motion Picture Distribution and Focus Features have extendedtheir output agreement to December 31, 2008.
Under the termsof the agreement, MPD will continue to distribute all Focus Features films aswell as those of Focus' genre label Rogue Pictures in all media in Canada.
One of thosepictures, Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain, starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal, is beingpresented at the Toronto International Film Festival through MPD.
In a statement,Focus co-presidents David Linde and James Schamus said the company's ongoingrelationship with MPD continued to deliver "fantastic results", adding "theirfamiliarity with the Canadian market and track record of success in all mediacontinues to make them the ideal distributor for our films."
Linde, who isalso president of Rogue, which was founded in March 2004, recently announced anaggressive expansion of Rogue's release slate beginning next year.
Upcoming Focustitles include Joe Wright's Pride And Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley; Harold Ramis'The Ice Harvest,starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and Connie Nielsen; Sanaa Hamri's SomethingNew, starring SanaaLathan and Simon Baker and Rian Johnson's Sundance title Brick, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Upcoming Roguetitles include Jeff Wadlow's Cry_Wolf, starring Julian Morris, Lindy Booth, and Jared Padalecki;the untitled supernatural thriller starring Sarah Michelle Gellar for directorAsif Kapadia; and Altered, directed by Eduardo Sanchez, co-writer and co-director of TheBlair Witch Project.
