Ryan Reynolds and David Suchet are set to star in William Phillip's Foolproof. The film is produced by Alliance Atlantis and Atom Egoyan's Ego Film Arts. The film also stars Kristin Booth, Joris Jarsky, James Allodi and David Hewlett.
It is the second feature of writer/director Phillips, whose debut Treed Murray premiered at the Toronto festival in 2001. It was nominated for five Canadian Genie Awards and won two but did little business. Peter Sussman, CEO, AAC Entertainment Group, is executive producer, along with Atom Egoyan. Seaton McLean and Bill House, executive vice president, Motion Pictures, AAC Entertainment Group, are producers.
The story follows the founding members (Reynolds, Booth, Jarsky) of a techie geek club called Foolproof who plan and execute seemingly impossible heists in theory. The aristocratic Suchet, perhaps inspired by Ben Kingsley's turn in Sexy Beast, plays a gangster who blackmails the gang into actually putting one of their hypothetical capers to the test.
Reynolds, star of National Lampoon's Van Wilder, recently wrapped the comedy The Wedding Party, alongside Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks.
