The UK’s Altitude Film Entertainment has announced new projects on its slate ahead of the AFM.
Corin Hardy, a 2011 Screen International Star of Tomorrow, will direct The Good People, an imaginative home invasion horror story about a scientists who moves to the Irish countryside with his family, when they come under attack from horrifying woodland creatures. Co-written by Hardy with Olga Barreneche, The Good People will be produced by Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino of Occupant Entertainment, whose credits include The Wackness and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane. Altitude is on board for financing, packaging and international sales. ICM Partners represents Hardy and will handle North American rights to The Good People.
Los Angeles based VFX expert Jabbar Raisani will make his directorial debut with Outpost 37, a high concept sci-fi action thriller. Raisani co-wrote with Blake Clifton — the story is about a documentary crew who follow a unit of marines defending mankind against aliens. Jason Newmark and Laurie Cook will produce for Bigscope alongside Trevor Engelson for Underground Entertainment. Will Clarke, Andy Mayson and Mike Runagall will serve as executive producers for Altitude (which is co-producing and handling international sales).
These two projects join other previously announced projects at Altitude: Owen Harris’s Kill Your Friends, based on John Niven’s novel about an A&R man working during the Britpop glory days. Rafe Spall has now been cast in the lead role and other cast will be announced soon. Gregor Cameron will produce alongside Altitude.
Altitude is also handling Son of a Gun by Julius Avery. Timothy White will produce for Southern Light Films. Ewan McGregor will star in the heist thriller.
Will Clarke, Chairman and CEO of Altitude Film Entertainment, said, “This new slate announcement is the perfect snapshot of the calibre of the creative talent and directors that Altitude is keen to attract. We’ve handpicked the best talent from the worlds of music video, visual effects, commercials and shorts and are investing in their unique creative visions. We’re delighted to be working with Corin, Owen, Jabbar and Julius as they reach the next stage of their directorial careers.”
Mike Runagall is MD of Altitude’s sales company, Altitude Film Sales.
