Ben Kingsley, WoodyHarrelson, Samantha Morton, Kate Mara and Eduardo Noriega are set to star inBrad Anderson's upcoming thriller Transsiberian for Spanish mini-studio Filmax Entertainment.
The film, a co-productionwith Germany's Universum Film GmbH, is budgeted at $15m-$20m. Shooting will getunderway December 11 in such far-flung locations as Beijing, Russia andLithuania.
The story follows Americancouple Roy (Harrelson) and Jessie (Morton) on a trip on the famed Trans-Siberiantrain from China to Moscow. Aboard they befriend another couple, played by Maraand Noriega, and events soon spiral out of control in a web of deception andmurder.
Kingsley plays a Russianpolice officer trailing the two couples. Anderson co-wrote the script with WillConroy.
Filmax CEO Julio Fernandezis producing. Universum retains distribution rights in German-speakingterritories.
Transsiberian marks Anderson's follow-up to well-received drama TheMachinist, a 2004 Filmax productionstarring Christian Bale and Jennifer Jason Leigh which was released in theUnited States by Paramount Classics.
