Andrew Haigh has started principal photography in Nottingham on Weekender, the story of a man who has alife-changing encounter with a stranger one weekend.

This film is not to be confused with another feature also currently being shot in the UK titled Weekender, that one directed by Pelican Blood’s Karl Golden. That project’s plot is about friends experiencing the rave scene of the 1990s.

Haigh’s Weekender is a co-production between Nottingham-based production company Glendale Picture Company, with the support of The Bureau Film Company, and Glasgow based Synchronicity Films. Regional agency EM Media is financing the film, with support from East Midlands Development Agency and project development support from Creative Scotland.

EM Media and Creative Scotland have previously worked together to co-finance Nick Whitfield’s Skeletons and Justin Molotnikov’s Crying With Laughter. 

Haigh previously directed the feature Greek Pete as well as short Five Miles Out.
