Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has announced that Ang Lee will head this year’s jury.
Three other leading Taiwanese and Hong Kong filmmakers have been tapped for the Golden Horse Film Festival, which runs November 8-28 in Taipei.
Tsai Ming-liang’s Stray Dogs will open the festival following its world premiere in competition at Venice. Hou Hsiao-hsien, who is chairman of the Golden Horse Film Festival, will lead the Golden Horse Film Academy (Oct 25-Nov 20), which he founded in 2009.
In addition, Hong Kong director Johnnie To will serve on the jury for the Golden Horse Film Festival’s project market Film Project Promotion (Nov 19-21). To and his fellow jury members will review 25 selected projects and choose the Grand Prize winner who will be awarded a cash prize of $33,500 (NT$1m).
