Anno Saul’s paranormal thriller The Door, starring Mads Mikkelsen, won the top Aurora award at the 20th Tromso International Film Festival in Norway, which ran January 18 -24.
The prize of $17,000 (NOK100,000) is awarded to the distributor, who picks up the film for theatrical distribution in Norway.
Georgian-Kazakh co-production The Other Bank by George Ovashvili won the Norwegian Peace Award, while Iraqi Shahram Alidi’s Whisper With The Wind picked up the Don Quixote prize.
The FIPRESCI award went to Turkey’s Pelin Osmer for 10 To 11 and the audience voted for Arash T. Riahi’s For A Moment, Freedom.
The festival was closed last night with a screening of Mika Kaurismaki’s latest film The House Of Branching Love.
