UK distributor Artificial Eye has confirmed several more acquisitions from Cannes:
- The Kid With A Bike, the Dardenne brothers’ joint winner of the 2011 Grand Prix
- Polisse, the police story by Maiwenn wihch won the 2011 Jury Prize
- Le Havre, Aki Kaurismaki’s immigration tale that won the Fipresci prize
- Michael, Markus Schleinzer’s debut feature about a paedophile
From the market, Artificial Eye pre-bought Rachid Bouchareb’s Just Like A Woman from 3B and The Bureau. Sienna Miller will star in the road movie about women going to a belly dancing competition.
The company’s previously announced Cannes Competition films were Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin (set for October 21 release) and Lars von Trier’s Melancholia (set for Sept 30 release). Previously announced market buys are Laurent Cantet’s Foxfire, Michael Haneke’s Amour, and Mia Hansen-Love’s Goodbye First Love.
