Alliance Atlantis andArtisan Entertainment have agreed to renew their all-rights Canadiansub-distribution agreement through March 31, 2007. Upcoming on the Artisanslate are Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, a re-imagination of the 1987 hit and The Punisher, based on the Marvel comic, starring John Travoltaand Thomas Jane.
The deal, first signed in1998, has covered all of the US company's titles, including The Buena VistaSocial Club, The Limey, The Blair Witch Project, and National Lampoon's Van Wilder. The deal also covers library titles such as OnGolden Pond and BernardoBertolucci's The Last Emperor andbox office smashes like the Rambo franchise, Dirty Dancing, Reservoir Dogs, and Terminator 2.
The deal was announced byArtisan Entertainment CEO Amir Malin and Victor Loewy and Patrice Theroux,respectively CEO and president, Alliance Atlantis Motion Picture DistributionGroup.
