Spanish distributor Aurum has acquired Spanish rights to five US titles, including Roger Donaldson’s thriller The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, from FilmNation.
Produced by Maguire Entertainment, The Hungry Rabbit sees Nicholas Cage (pictured) star as a man forced to seek help from an underground vigilante group after his wife is the victim of a brutal crime.
It has acquired a further four titles from Summit International including Robert Schwentke’s action comedy Red, based on a Wildstorm/DC Comic. It stars Bruce Willis as a man’s whose life is shattered by three hitmen. The cast also includes Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren.
It has also picked up The Runaways, a biopic of the teenage band of the same name starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, ahead of its world premiere at the Sundance Festival next month.
The remaining films are Twilight director Catherine Harwicke’s new adptation of Gayle Forman’s book If I Stay, and the second film from UK director Duncan Jones, Source Code, starring , starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
