The 17th Slamdance On The Road tour will begin on Mar 2 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas.
Films to be showcased include this year’s grand jury award winners Bible Quiz, a documentary about the religious sport by the same name, and high school horror comedy The Dirties.
“Slamdance has a proven track record of unearthing great films; yet the commercial challenges many of our alumni face post festival acclaim are harder than ever,” said Slamdance president and co-founder Peter Baxter.
“This means we are compelled to develop a theatrical programme beyond the festival as well as driven to help film-makers find popular audiences. The standard of Slamdance films, like The Dirties and Bible Quiz, deserve this much and we believe audiences will respond.”
Following the screenings will be a Coffee With… question and answer session with The Dirties director Matt Johnson and producer Matt Miller.
Also scheduled to screen are the Texas-made shorts Hearts Of Napalm and Winkelmann, TX.
The tour concurrently marks the lead-up to the 20th anniversary of the festival next year.
