Key indie distributor Avalon has picked up several titles at Cannes for Spain, including UK sci-fi film Attack The Block and Mexican drama Miss Bala.

Avalon has also picked up Emmanuel Mouret’s French comedy The Art Of Love, starring Francois Cluzet, from Kinology and Gerardo Naranjo’s popular drama Miss Bala about an aspiring beauty queen, played by Stephanie Sigman, who gets caught up in a criminal gang in Mexico’s ongoing drugs war, which world premiered in Un Certain Regard and is being handled by Fox International.
“We had a busy and productive Cannes and got exactly what we wanted,” Costa told ScreenDaily. “Attack The Block is great fun, Miss Bala is a powerful movie, Michel Petricciani has a similar flavour to Bruce Weber’s popular doc Let’s Get Lost and The Art of Love should be well received by the audience.”
