The Visual Effects Society will award the director of The Martian its VES Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Annual VES Awards in Beverly Hills on February 2, 2016.
The honour recognises an “outstanding body of work contributing to the art and/or science of the visual effects industry” that includes Blade Runner and Alien.
Scott has earned three best director Oscar nominations for Black Hawk Down, Gladiator and Thelma & Louise.
Previous winners of the VES Lifetime Achievement Award include James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Ray Harryhausen, and George Lucas.
