Mobile and web content platform Babelgum continues to strike interesting deals, this time starting an exclusive wireless licensing agreement to bring FunnyOrDie videos to mobile platforms.
The deal covers two years, and will offer a stand-alone Funny Or Die-branded iPhone application as well as Funny Or Die content in all Babelgum applications.
Also, the comedy channel on Babelgum’s website will include a Funny Or Die branded section that will host new content after it is premeired on Funny Or Die’s own website. That section will also include Funny or Die’s past hits including The Landlord (starring site co-founder Will Ferrell), Good Cop Baby Gop and Denise Richards’ Funbags.
The partnership was developed by the Babelgum management team with the support of Massimo Armanini of Babelgum’s Board. Amber J. Lawson, the new Publisher of Babelgum’s Comedy Channel, announced the deal.
“We are excited to showcase our content in Babelgum’s innovative wireless applications,” said Dick Glover, CEO of Funny Or Die. “Funny or Die has become the leading Internet comedy video destination and Babelgum is the perfect partner for bringing our content to mobile users throughout the world.”
“Our alignment with Funny Or Die further secures our position as a trusted source for smart comedy,” added Lawson. “Our position as Funny Or Die’s mobile provider offers a unique opportunity to our loyal Babelgum audience and to an entirely new audience who will now be able to experience our mobile application.”
Babelgum’s other content partners include BBC, Cinetic Rights Management, Content Republic, The Workbook Project and Power To The Pixel as well as several film festivals. Babelgum has offices in the US, UK, Ireland, France and Italy.
