Mentors on the European-African training and development programme include John Akomfrah and Jean-Pierre Bekolo.
Babylon International is launching its second edition with a script development workshop in Berlin (May 23-27).
12 Film-making teams will work with script consultants including John Akomfrah, Jean-Pierre Bekolo, Tony Dennis, Jürgen Seidler, Isabelle Blanchard and Gareth Jones to develop their projects over the course of 9 months in preparation for major African and European markets.
Following Berlin, each project will be individually mentored throughout the script rewrite phase of the programme, in preparation for the production lab which takes place late September 24-30.
African and European participants will meet again in Nigeria’s capital Abuja to prepare and shoot 3 minute teasers based on selected scenes from their films, shot on location around the city, with the promos being presented at the Abuja Film Festival and at the Berlin European Film Market in 2012.
The programme is run by Berlin based Script House, London based Scenario Films and Paris based Cine Sud Promotion, with funding from the European Union’s MEDIA Mundus programme and the Nigerian Film Corporation.
