Ceri Levy’s Bananaz will be available online via Babelgum before its theatrical release.
The online premiere will take place on April 20, 2009 prior to the film’s subsequent UK theatrical release via EMI. EMI hold worldwide distribution rights for the documentary.
Documentary film Bananaz gives an account of the creative process behind virtual cartoon band Gorillaz and the working relationship of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett.
Valerio Zingarelli, CEO of Babelgum said ‘Ceri Levy’s film is punchy, irreverent and exciting. It is exactly the kind of edgy content that Babelgum’s audience wants to see. It also contains very positive messages to aspiring musicians, which sits in line with our commitment to nurturing new talent. ‘
Bananaz received its first theatrical premiere in 2008 at the Berlin Film Festival and went on to screen at other festivals including South by South West and the Edinburgh Film Festival.
