Henry Winkler will be the recipient of the 2014 Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) Award Of Excellence.
Winkler will accept the honour at the June 10 Rockie Awards Gala held during the festival, which runs from June 8-11 in Banff, Canada.
Winkler is best known for his portrayal of Fonzie in the television series Happy Days. His recent television credits include roles in Arrested Development and Royal Pains. He is also the co-author of a series of 26 bestselling children’s books.
“Having the opportunity to entertain audiences for over 40 years has been a blessing,” said Winkler. “I am grateful and very humbled to be recognised by this great festival.”
“We are very excited to present the 2014 Award of Excellence to Henry Winkler,” said BANFF executive director Ferne Cohen. “The award is in recognition of his inspiring work both on the TV screen and in making the world a more entertaining place for future generations.”
