BavariaFilm International (BFI) has reported a raft of sales on two of itstitles in Berlinale Competition.
DorisDoerrie's Cherry Blossoms - Hanami has now been sold to South Korea(JinJin Pictures), Taiwan (Swallow Wings), Colombia (Cine Colombia),Mexico (Cine Video y TV) and Greece (PCV) in addition to the deal withBenelux's Cinemien made before the world premiere on February 11.
Further deals with companies from Italy, France and Scandinavia areexpected to close in the next few days.
Meanwhile,Petri Kotwica's second feature Black Ice attracted buyers from France(Surreal Film), Bulgaria (Multivision), Taiwan (Swallow Wings), SouthKorea (K Entertainment), Colombia (Cine Colombia), CIS and the BalticStates (Plan 2 Real) picking up all available rights for theirrespective countries.
Allrights for Michael Herbig's animated comedy Lissi and the Wild Emperorhave now also been acquired by Turkey (Ozenfilm) and Spain (Key2Media), while PCV from Greece picked up TV and DVD rights.
Inaddition, BFI reports a package deal with HBO Ole Partners from LatinAmerica for the pay TV rights to Black Ice, Cherry Blossoms - Hanami, Lissi And The Wild Emperor, Robert Thalheim's And Along Come Tourists, Tamar van den Dop's Blind and Tomas Alfredson's Let The Right One In.
Apartfrom the official EFM lineup, BFI also generated a considerable buzzamong international buyers with a 10-minute promo reel of the upcomingcostume drama
Buddenbrooks- The Decline of Family by Heinrich Breloer. The adaptation of ThomasMann's novel has been pre-sold to Benelux, Poland and Colombia, afurther deal with an Italian company is imminent.
'Thisyear's EFM has been a lively market for us,' BFI managing directorThorsten Ritter said. 'Our revenues within the first half of themarket have already outdone the overall results of 2007.'
Thursday (Feb 14) will see BFI presenting its third Competition title Restless by Amos Kollek.
