Munich-based sales agent Bavaria Film International will handle international sales for Alvaro Brechner’s feature film debut Bad Day To Go Fishing (Mal Dia Para Pescar).
The film will have its world premiere in this year’s Critic’s Week at the Cannes Film Festival.
Thorsten Ritter, Bavaria Film International managing director, said: “The film has this great touch of laconic humor and likeable characters in a story told in a warm-hearted and stunningly assured manner. Alvaro shows tremendous talent way beyond the scope of a first feature.’
In addition, Bavaria Film International will have two market premieres in Cannes’ Marché du film: Matthias Emcke´s feature film debut PhantomPain and Vivian Naefe’s Wild Chicks And Life.
Emcke’s drama stars Til Schweiger as ladies man and passionate racing cyclist Marc whose life is changed forever when he loses his left leg in a traffic accident. It was released in Germany last Thursday by Warner Bros. Germany.
Meanwhile, Naefe’s third and final outing in the Wild Chicks franchise was released earlier this year by Constantin Film. It has taken more than $6.7 (€5.1m) to date at the German box office.
