Two projects from Danish producer-distributor Angel Films have been picked up for worldwide sales in the market at Berlin - Laila The Pure, directed by Gabriel Axel (Babette's Feast), which has been bought by Moviefan, and Hella Joof's Shake It All About, which has gone to Bavaria Media.
Laila, a French-language production narrated by France's Michel Bouquet, tells the story of two young people who meet in Morocco's Atlas Mountains. It is produced by Ulrich Bolt Jorgensen of Angel subsidiary Angel Arena. Currently in post, the film is scheduled for domestic release in May.
Shake It All About, a Danish-language romantic comedy, is currently in production with Danish stars Mads Mikkelsen and Troels Lyby in the leads. Germany's Apollo Media is co-producing the project with Angel Production's Thomas Gammeltoft.
Angel Films has retained Scandinavian rights to both projects. Both are executive produced by Angel's Mogens Glad and Poul Erik Lindeborg
Angel, which purchased rights for Lars von Trier's Dancer In The Dark as one of its first ventures in 1998, also owns distribution outlets Angel Distribution and Angel Scandinavia, Angel Facilities and a DVD manufacturing plant, DVD Scandinavia. Its producing credits include Tomas Gislason's Like A Rock.
Scandinavia's Moviefan launched a London-based international sales company last October with former Beyond Films executive Dee Emerson heading up sales. The company's slate also includes Ralph Ziman's The Zookeeper, starring Sam Neill and Gina McKee; Newton L. Aduaka's Rage, a UK drama about three aspiring hip-hop stars; and thriller Return To Sender, which is being scripted by The World Is Not Enough duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.
