The film will screen in the main competition at Berlin.
'We are delighted to work cooperate with Jiri Menzel,' Bavaria Film director for sales and acquisitions Thorsten Schaumann said a press release. 'Many of our German directors admire him as one of the most outstanding directors, and he is appreciated for his originality all over the world.'
Schaumann added that Bavaria Film was proud work in partnership with the Czech producer and director on the film, which portrays the life of an ambitious Czech waiter before, during and after the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia in World War II.
'For us it's a great honour to have I Served The King Of England represented by Bavaria Film International, which is among the most important players at prestigious festivals and international film markets,' AQS producer Andrea Metcalfe said in the statement.
AQS has already sold I Served The King Of England in several Eastern European territories. The film drew almost 250,000 admissions in its first week. Casino Royale, by comparison, saw just over 100,000 admission its first week in Czech cinemas.
