Bergman Week plans Family Snapshots theme for 2011.
Organisers are planning this year’s Bergman Week (June 28-July 3) with guests to include psychiatrist/writer Johan Cullberg, actress Inga Landgré, director Lisa Langseth, author Henning Mankell and writer Sara Stridsberg.
Also, professor Birgitta Steene will present a lecture on the role of landscape in Bergman’s films. That will be tied to an exhibit with the Faro Local Heritage Association.
The theme for Bergman Week this year will be Family Snapshots, showcasing Bergman’s own family albums and some rarely seen family films, such as an interview with his father-in-law Selim Karlebo.
The full programme will be unveiled on April 27.
The annual Bergman Week is held on the island of Faro, where Bergman lived and worked. Partners on the event include the Bergman Center, TheBergman Estate, Gotland Film Commission, Göteborg International Film Festival, The Gotland University, Municipality of Gotland, Barbro Osher Pro Suecia Foundation, The Swedish Film Institute andThe Swedish Institute.
