There will be special screenings in memory of the Greek director and German actor/director who both died last month.
The Berlin Film Festival is to put on two special screenings in honour of Greek director Theo Angelopoulos and Vadim Glowna, both of whom died in January.
Angelopoulos, who was killed in a car crash during the shoot of his latest project The Other Sea, was a regular at the Berlin Film Festival, most recently with The Dust Of Time which was in competition in 2009.
The festival will screen his 2004 film Trilogy: The Weeping Meadow in the original version with German subtitles, with Greek author Petros Markaris, who worked with Angelopoulus on several of his scripts for his films, and Phoebe Economopoulos, widow and producer of many of his films, expected to attend the screening.
German actor and director Vadim Glowna, who died aged 70 last month, was a prominent figure of New German Cinema, who won the Golden Camera at Cannes in 1981 for his directorial debut, Desperado City. He sat on the Berlin jury in 1989.
There will be a screening of Desperado City, in cooperation with the Deutsche Filmakademie, during the festival.
