Not yet known if Iranian director will be able to join jury.

Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick has invited Iranian director Jafar Panahi to join the International Jury of the 61st Berlin International Film Festival in February.

“We hope Jafar Panahi will be able to attend the Festival and perform this important task on the International Jury of the 61st Berlinale,” said Kosslick.

The acclaimed filmmaker won the Silver Bear in Berlin in 2006 for Offside.

He was invited to join the jury in Cannes 2010 but couldn’t after he was arrested in Iran for his political beliefs.
