For the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival, Haro Senft will be awarded the Berlinale Camera.
Senft is one of the pioneers of New German Cinema (his films include Oscar-nominated Kahl, Der sanfte Lauf, Ein Tag mit dem) as well as an advocate for family films.
The Berlinale has been awarding the Camera since 1986 “to film personalities or institutions to which it feels particularly indebted and wishes to express its thanks.”
Since Haro Senft can no longer travel, Dieter Kosslick awarded him his Berlinale Camera at his residence in Munich prior to the Festival.
On Feb 15, 2012 the Berlinale will present his film Ein Tag mit dem Wind in his honour, preceded by a video of him receiving his award.
