Berlinale unveils Generation sidebar line-up

The section will show 56 features and short films across its youth strand, Generation 14plus, and children’s section, Generation Kplus.

Dev Benegal’s Road, Movie will open the Generation14plus competition while the Generation Kplus will open for the first time with a documentary feature, Alamar, directed by Pedro Gonzalez-Rubio and set in a nature reserve in the Mexican Caribbean.

There will be ten feature world premieres including Zhang Lu’s Dooman River, Mijke de Jong’s Joy and Echoes Of The Rainbow by Alex Law.

Among the 28 short films in competition is Spike Jonze’s I’m Here, which has been selected for the Generation 14plus section.

“Generation is marking the [60^th] anniversary of the Berlinale with a programme full of contrasts. We want to celebrate this difference,” says section director Maryanne Redpath.
