The Berlinale's Generation section for children and young people has finalised its 2008 lineup with 24 feature and 31 short films from 20 countries, including eight world and seven international feature film premieres.
The Generation Kplus competition will open on February 8 at the Zoo Palast with the Dutch film Where is Winky's Horse' by Mischa Kamp, while Generation 14plus competition section will kick off with the world premiere of Elissa Down's The Black Balloon, starring Toni Collette, Rhys Wakefield, Luke Ford and model Gemma Ward.
As an innovation this year, the 14plus competition will also include two documentaries: Volker Meyer-Dabisch's love, peace & beatbox about the Berlin subculture of human beatboxing, and Christian Karim Chrobog's War Child, which accompanies hip-hop star Emmanuel Jal on a journey into his past as a child soldier in Sudan.
