German outfit Beta Cinema has closed a number of eye-catching deals on its Cannes slate.
Heart Of Fire, which screened in official selection in Berlin, has gone to the UK (Metrodome) and to the US (Seventh Art).
In the wake of its Oscar success earlier this year, Stephan Ruzowitzky's holocaust tale The Counterfeiters has been selling briskly in Asia and the Middle East. Deals now confirmed by Beta include Taiwan (Tentpole), Hong Kong (Panorama), mainland China (Dequan), South Korea (Mediasoft) and India (UTV).
Beta has also closed a US deal on Dani Levy's Mein Fuhrer, which has gone to First Run Features.
Meanwhile, Mongol has gone to the Philippines (Solar Entertainment) and India and Singapore/Malaysia (Pyramid Saimira).
Absurdistan has gone to the UK (ICA) and Czech and Slovak Republics (Bontonfilm).
Here in Cannes, Beta is handling competition title Il Divo. It is also holding a market premiere of From Junkie to Ironman.
Upcoming projects on Beta's slate include Cold War drama The Interrogation of Harry Wind starring Klaus Maria Brandauer and Sebastian Koch, and Robert Dornhelm's screen version of Puccini's opera, La Boheme, starring renowned soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Rolando Villazon. This is in post-production.
Max Faerrberboeck's Anonyma - A Woman In Berlin is also in post-production and is likely to be vying for a slot at a major autumn festival.
