Beta Film will handle international sales on Agnieszka Holland’s new feature Hidden (working title), which has begun shooting in Berlin.
The German-Canadian-Polish co-production between Schmidtz Katze Filmkollektiv, The Film Works and Zebra Film is based on a true story about the struggle for survival by a group of Jewish refugees on the run in Nazi-occupied Lvov in 1943.
Backed by the German funds MDM, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, HessenInvest, FFA and DFFF as well as the Polish Film Institute, the film will also shoot at locations in Leipzig, Lodz and Warsaw and is set to be released theatrically in Germany by NFP Marketing & Distribution* in spring 2011.
The cast, who will speak in Polish, German orYiddish, includes Polish actor Robert Wieckiewicz and Germany’s Benno Fürmann, Herbert Knaup and Maria Schrader.
