The studio reached the milestone on June 30 in its fastest time, powered by Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Inside Out and Cinderella.
This marks the sixth consecutive year and the ninth overall that The Walt Disney Studios has accomplished the feat. The studio’s previous speed record was set last year on August 15.
Avengers: Age Of Ultron has generated $1.385bn worldwide and ranks as the sixth biggest release in history.
After three weekends in North America, Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out stands at $363.5m globally with a number of significant international territories to come.
The studio announced on June 25 that it had crossed the $1bn North American milestone in a studio record time of 174 days.
