The Tom Cruise behemoth has raced to $169.3m and Paramount Pictures International (PPI) will look to retain its box office crown with strong holiday holdovoer business.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opened in the UK on Boxing Day (Dec 26) and British audiences are expected to embrace the action release as it surges towards the $200m milestone. It also opens this week in Poland.
Meanwhile PPI is set to open DreamWorks Animation’s Puss In Boots in Taiwan. The animated smash stands at $240.1m.
PPI also unleashes The Adventures Of Tintin in Australia and New Zealand and the film has grossed more than $240m including Sony Pictures Releasing International markets.
Warner Bros Pictures International opens Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows this weekend in Russia and Mexico on Dec 29. Key upcoming markets include Spain and Australia on Jan 5, Brazil on Jan 13, France on Jan 25, China in January and Japan on Mar 10. The adventure sequel has amassed more than $50m.
Fox International’s drama We Bought A Zoo arrives in Argentina, Spain and Hong Kong.
The Darkest Hour opens in around 13 territories including Germany, Singapore and Austria and Alvin And The Chipmunks opens in six including Australia and Russia.
