As anticipated, Buena Vista International (BVI) has closed down its international sales division Buena Vista Film Sales (BVFS) in the wake of the departure of executive vice president of acquisitions and business affairs Jere Hausfater. Very much a Hausfater initiative, BVFS handled such films as The 13th Warrior, He Got Game and Summer Of Sam on behalf of Disney as well as pick-ups such as Beacon Pictures' Family Man and Bruce Paltrow's Duets.
In a statement, BVI announced that acquisitions will now fall under the remit of Anthony Marcoly, senior vice president of international distribution at BVI. Alicia Keyes, who formerly worked under Hausfater, has been promoted to director of acquisitions.
