EXCLUSIVE: Bac has closed a host of territories on its Icelandic and Mexican foreign language Oscar contenders.
French outfit Bac Films International has seen strong interest for Baltasar Kormakur’s The Deep [pictured] and Michel Franco’s After Lucia, the foreign language Oscar hopefuls for Iceland and Mexico, respectively.
Toronto title The Deep has gone to Benelux (Wild Bunch), Canada (D Films), Brazil (Imovision), Latin America (HBO Latin America for TV rights), Former Yugoslavia (Demiurg) and Czech Republic (Aerofilm).
After Lucia has sold in Benelux (Wild Bunch), Switerland (Agora), Japan (Aya Pro), South Korea (Apex), Russia (P&I), Former Yugoslavia (MCF), Poland (AP Manana), Taiwan (Cai Chang International), Greece (FeelGood) and Latin America (HBO Latin America for TV rights).
US deals are being tied up on both films, with Bac handling After Lucia and WME handling The Deep.
Bac recently boarded Pablo Fendrik’s upcoming Amazon-set revenge story The Ardor, set to star Gael Garcia Bernal and Alice Braga.
