Hong Kong’s Edko Films has sealed a slew of Asia Pacific deals on $20m Andy Lau vehicle Firestorm, which is currently in production.
The film has gone to Singapore (Clover Films), Malaysia (RAM Entertainment), Indonesia (PT Teguh), Taiwan (Sky Films), Thailand and Cambodia (Sahamongkol), Vietnam (Visicom Surya Gemilang), Korea (Dreamwest Pictures), Australia and New Zealand (Magnum Films) and inflight (EIM).
Edko says that talks are underway for North America, France, the UK and the Middle East, and the company expects to close further deals during Cannes.
Produced by Bill Kong and Lau, Firestorm is the directorial debut of Alan Yuen, who has written screenplays for Benny Chan’s action blockbusters, including New Police Story, Connected and Shaolin. Lau plays a hardboiled police inspector hunting down a crew of seasoned criminals.
Edko is also selling two-part horror omnibus Tales From The Dark, directed by Gordon Chan, Fruit Chan, Simon Yam, Lee Chi Ngai, Teddy Robin and Lawrence Lau.
