Camela Galano, who has been living in London as executive vice president and European supervisor of New Line International (NLI), has been named president of New Line International.
She takes over international duties from Rolf Mittweg whose job at New Line Cinema was recently expanded when he was named president and COO of worldwide distribution and marketing.
Galano is a 15 year veteran of the company who joined New Line in 1986 and helped create the international division with Mittweg, to whom she will continue to report in her new capacity.
The promotion will be effective on Aug 15 when she will relocate to Los Angeles from London. Since relocating to the UK in 1995, she has been the studio's chief liaison between distribution partners and film-makers in Europe and South Africa, advising on all matters from marketing and publicity to consulting on roll-outs and release strategies.
'This promotion is an extension of a partnership Cam and I have shared since 1986,' Mittweg said. 'We have been working side-by-side for 15 years and we have successfully led and grown this division together. Cam has earned the confidence, respect and support of our distribution partners worldwide and I would trust no one else with the responsibility of leading the department."
Mittweg said that while he will step away from international deal-making, he will remain involved and have continuous contact with NLI's partners.
