eOne takes North America for Freaky Deaky
eOne has acquired all North American rights to director Charlie Matthau’s homage to 1970s filmmaking, Freaky Deaky. The film is based on Elmore Leonard’s 1988 novel of the same name (about a Detroit policeman and a rich local); the cast includes Crispin Glover, Billy Burke, Michael Jai White and Shristian Slater. Matthau also penned the screenplay, which is based on Elmore Leonard’s 1988 novel of the same name. The film premiered at Tribeca. The deal was negotiated by Sejin Croninger for eOne with Ben Weiss at Paradigm’s Motion Picture Finance Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
TrustNordisk spreads Frost to UK, Canada, Russia
TrustNordisk has sold upcoming sci-fi thriller Frost to Momentum for the UK, eOne for Canada and Big Movie for Russia. “We think FROST is going to give audiences a new and uniquely chilling experience and we are very happy to continue working with TrustNordisk to keep bringing great Scandinavian films to the UK”, says Henry Beattie, Acquisition Manager at Momentum Pictures.TrustNordisk has been showing a two-minute promo in Cannes.The film is about a young couple at a glacier drilling station who encounter a mysterious force. Iceland’s Reynir Lyngdal directs and producers are Ingvar Thordarson and Julius Kemp for Kisi Production.Sam has rights in Iceland.
Nomads travel to Austria, France
Winter Nomads (Hiver Nomade), the feature documentary by Manuel von Sturler has been sold for theatrical distribution to Thim Film in Austria and KMBO in France. Producers Elisabeth Garbar and Heinz Dill are handling sales and discussions are also underway with Germany, Benelux, UK, Scandinavia and several Eastern European territories. The film premiered at the Berlinale.
