Image Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Mr. Morgan’s Last Love.
Sandra Nettelbeck’s romantic drama, starring Michael Caine, Clemence Poésy, Jane Alexander and Anne Alvaro, premiered at the Cannes Market on Wednesday [May 15]. It concerns a lonely American widower in Paris, who learns to love life again after a chance encounter with a beautiful and vibrant young woman.
Image is planning a theatrical release in the autumn.
Global Screen has also presold the film to Hong Kong (Edko Communications) and Turkey (MIR Productions), and with Germany (Senator), Spain (A Contracorriente) and Benelux (A-Film) already on board, the sales company is confident it will sell the feature to all remaining key territories during this market.
“Our buyers have been very interested in this film – the first lead role for Sir Michael Caine in a long time. The fantastic responses after the premiere in Cannes confirm our expectations have been more than fulfilled,” commented Julia Weber, head of theatrical sales, Global Screen.
