Film already sold for Germany and Middle East.
K5 International will handle international sales on spoof The Starving Games. Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (Date Movie, Meet The Spartans, Vampires Suck) are writing and directing.
The film has already sold to Wild Bunch for Germany and Falcon for the Middle East.
The parody will not only skewer The Hunger Games but also recent films such as The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter.
Los Angeles-based Peter Safran will produce, and the film is set to shoot starting in October.
Safran said: “These movies cross all kinds of boundaries, both ethical and geographical. We can’t wait to offer up this hilarious take on the Suzanne Collins phenomenon to international buyers.”
Carl Clifton, Head of Sales and Marketing at K5 added: “The box office results on these spoofs speak for themselves. It’s a formula that works every time and one that Jason, Aaron and Peter have down to a fine art.”
