EXCLUSIVE: Tokyo-based Live Viewing Japan, part of the powerful Amuse Group, is expanding into international film distributionacross the Asian market, on various platforms.
The outfit will work not only with alternative content as it has done in the past two years since the company launched, but also with international and Asian films as well.
The first film acquisition is Korean hit The Thieves [pictured], which will launch in Japan with an innovative release strategy that will let audience members pre-buy movie tickets and pre-select their seats.
Yokichi Osato founded Asia’s top talent agency Amuse Group 35 years ago; the company now has 13 subsidiaries and two affiliates.
Osato will build on the Live Viewing Japan’s huge audiences and shareholder’s strength to now also work on film distribution.
Osato said: “Along with my business partners, the aim is to adapt our live-entertainment distribution methodology and innovation to the film market, and to work closely with film producers to ambitiously promote their work of art in the Asian world.”
Key shareholders for Live Viewing Japan include Toho, Toei, advertising agency Dentu, Sony Music Entertainment, pay TV WOWOW, FamilyMart, and strategic partners Hakuhodo Casting and Entertainment and Avex Group Holdings.
